词语用法
await同wait等比较：wait的使用比await普遍。await属于及物动词，后不能接介词，能说I await her reply，不能说I await for her reply。要注意到是wait作及物动词时，可与await通用，上面例子中的await可改成wait。await后能接动名词，不能接不定式，而wait则是相反状态，后能接不定式，不接动名词。wait for同await意思相同，但wait for接宾语后还可接不定式，如I am waiting for him to come。

await的基本意思是“等候某人〔某物〕”,是正式用语,引申可表示“做好准备,备妥以待”,多指被动地、急切地等待事情发生; 也可表示“认为某事物将降临到某人身上”。
await是及物动词。主语是人,后接所等的人或事时,与wait for相同；主语是事(如事件、命运、荣誉等),与be in store相同。
await sth,就是期待它的到来或发生,而直到它到来或发生前不采取任何行动。

await, wait
这两个词都有“等待”的意思,其区别是：
1.await是正式用词,常用于书面语,不如wait常用。
2.await后面可以接动名词作宾语,但不可接不定式, wait后面可以接不定式作状语,但不可接动名词,如：I shall await hearing from you和I shall wait to hear from you。这两句里的await和wait不可对调。
3.await, wait for这二者含义相同,但wait for后面接了宾语还可以加上不定式,而await却不可,如：I am waiting for him to come(我在等着他来。)里的waiting for不可改作awaiting。
await, expect
这两个词都有“期待”的意思。其区别是：
await 除了指希望之外,还暗示思想上做好了某事会发生的准备。而expect强调某事不论好坏必然发生。例如：
She had reason to expect that the trip would be exciting. 她有理由以为这次施行该是令人兴奋的。
We await your reply with interest. 我们极感兴趣地等待你的答复。
wait await
这两个动词均含“等，等待”之意。
wait:wait普通用词，侧重静候于某处，直到等候或期待的人或事物的到来，通常用作不及物动词，与for连用。
await:await正式用词，及物动词，通常指不断等待，多含耐心意味。
