Actual、Real、True、Genuine和 Authentic的意思有點不同，不妨一看：
Actual（1）實際存在的；（2）真正的、正式的
What were his actual words? （他的原話是甚麽？/ 他到底說了些甚麽話？）
The actual opening ceremony will start in five minutes. （正式的開幕式會在五分鐘內開始。）
Real
（1）指真實不變的物件；（2）真實存在的人和事。
Is this real gold or pinchbeck? （這是真金還是膺品？）
It was a real person, not someone invented in a novel. （確有其人，不是小說憑空想像。）（比較：When she saw the actual person of her online friend Peter, she was surprised. 她見到網友Peter的真人時，覺得詫異。）
True真確的，符合事實的，例如真話和真文件，指沒有說謊或造假。語氣較actual 和 real
強。
What he says is simply not true. （他說的簡直就不真實。）
Is it true that he has been married thrice （他真的有過三次婚姻嗎？）
a certified true copy of the document （文件的核證真實副本）
Genuine強調不是假冒或假裝的（感情等）。較正式的用語。
The painting proved to be genuine, not a copy. （這油畫是真品，不是複製品。）
The painting is not a genuine Vinci （那油畫不是真正的達文西作品）
A genuine leather purse will cost a lot more than that. （真皮錢包的所費遠不止此。）
Do you think the rich man has a genuine interest in helping the young girl? （你認為那有錢人對幫助那少女真有興趣嗎？）
Authentic
真的；非偽造的，多用於指真實因而有效力的文件，又指鑒證證明的真實。
Both the Chinese and English versions of this Contract are equally authentic.（本合同的中文本和英文本具有相同效力。）（指同樣真實可信因此同樣有效之意。）
This is Picasso’s authentic signature, not a forgery. （這是畢加索本人的真正簽名，不是偽造的。）
